Broken Promises…

By Bob Senitram
Just some guy to tends to be at the wrong place at the wrong time….

I know someone out there must be wondering, “What’s the REAL Bob Senitram like?”

Hell, I don’t know myself.

But I figure I’ll share a little bit and if you’re curious, you’ll get the gist of it…

I’ve always lived with motto of, “Keep your promises, a broken promise is a broken character.”

But as life went on, I learned that this motto isn’t the best advice in every situation.

Many years ago, my wife set me up on a date with one of her coworkers.

I know what you’re thinking.

Hey, this guys wife is made a date for her husband with another woman, and boom-chucka-boom, chucka-boom-boom-boom.

Nope, it weren’t like that at all.

We weren’t married…we never even dated yet.

Just friends.

Luck has it, that on the afternoon of that date, I got a bad fever.

A dizzy, I’m not sure what I just said fever.

I didn’t want to cancel, because I gave my word.

That afternoon, I took a nice hot bath. I figured a hot bath would kill all them fever bugs in my body and I’d be A-OK for the date. Turns out, that’s the exact opposite of what you’re supposed to do.

I asked ChatGPT and it said, “Oh, hell no. That’s the worst thing you can do. I will raise your body temperature and make you dehydrated and dizzy.”

I have to admit, the Chat was right this time, ’cause that’s exactly what happened!

Instead of going to urgent care with a 100-plus temperature, I took a hot bath and went on a date.

We met up at a restaurant because she didn’t know me very well.

I end up mumbling all night with my eyes half closed.

I don’t remember a lot, but I remember trying to say that’s it’s weird driving a regular car after spending the last month in an 18 wheeler. In an 18 wheeler your about 10 feet off the ground. After a few months of that, in a regular car, it seems like your butt is dragging across the road.

I forgot to mention, at the time, I was a drug-store-truck-drivin’ man.

Only thing, I don’t remember what I really said, but I think it was sumthin’ like, “Drivin’ the truck is like 10 feet high, and without it’ I’m just draggin’ my butt around town like a dog that just took a shit.”

She gave me a weird look, looked out the window and asked if I drove the truck to the restaurant.

I just laughed like a crack addict that just scored.

We had our dinner and I walked her to her car. I was shaking and bumping into things along the way like a homeless gent.

Like I said, we didn’t know each other yet, and she wanted to keep it that way.

Me and my motto.

It would have been better if I just cancelled and let my future old lady explain that I was sick.

But life deals you with what it wants you to have.

Had I done the smart thing, me and the ol’ lady never would have dated and I wouldn’t have a wife that’s way out of my league, and two exceptional kids.

To be honest, I still don’t know how all that happened!

Disappointed? Statistically speaking, you should be…

Song in my head:

COMING NEXT: Promises, promises…Part II!
