A Trip Down Memory Lane

I remember when The Weirdcrap existed before the internet.

Many, MANY years ago this began. We didn’t know what a computer was so we scrawled stuff on paper with crayons and handed them out in whatever town we happened to be passing thru.

I remember back in the 60’s we were in Vegas and we heard of some band named after a bug. I thought they sucked, but Bob thought they were “groovy”.

I grabbed a writing utensil and wrote about how this band sucked and that they wouldn’t be any good until they started using drugs. Bob wrote something about a president getting shot.

When done, we hit the Strip and handed out the newsletter. Found out that a lot of people (mostly girls) were very upset about what I wrote about The Beatles and didn’t seem to care much about the dead prez.

They were so upset that they demanded to know who Stephen was, so I pointed to Bob across the street . Next thing I saw was Bob getting mercilessly pummeled by a bunch of girls. I might have even given them a thumbs-up since they continued to pummel Bob for a good long while.

Sadly(?), this happened more than once.

Maybe one day I’ll take another trip down memory lane. I have to hold onto those memories since the advent of the internet have stopped a majority of the Bob pummeling.

Stephen Johnson

The idea of building a website with Bob came from Stephen in the days of message boards and chat rooms. We settled on the name TheWeirdcrap.com and the rest is history. Retired since he hit the ripe age of 25, he spends most his time doing odd-jobs around the house and digging thru trash bins for "stuff that's still good." Stephen has contributed several short stories and hosted the "Lunatic Ravings" column since the beginning (1999). The idea of writing weekly columns came from Stephen before blogs or blog sites ever existed. So, I guess that makes him THE FIRST BLOGGER IN THE WORLD!!!
