You Better You Bet

You can literally bet on almost anything now.  And I’m not using “literally” in that post-ironic sense where literally means literally the opposite of itself.

You can literally literally bet on almost anything.

From a Time Traveller’s historian perspective, I see it all as a part of the continued Game and Reality Show-ification of American society.

But it’s not just about seeing everything as a game or a reality show.  It’s about seeing everything as entertainment.  Seeing each other as entertainment.

Which we are, frankly.

I mean, you gotta admit that much.

But what I am talking about is the commodification of humanity itself, people seeing other humans as objects instead of as other humans.  It’s an age old problem.

Of course it comes down to money.  Or love thereof.  People will do or sell anything for money.  Even each other.

So it’s really no wonder that we’ve finally come to the point where you can literally bet on almost anything.

It’s just sad and pathetic, that’s all.

Spamrider

Spamrider of the Apocalypse is just some crazy dude who contacted us out of the blue one day claiming to be a time traveler who had discovered that he had already been publishing information on our website for years while he was visiting the future.  Neither me or Steve had ever heard of him before so we don’t know if he’s ACTUALLY crazy or what, but he’s definitely weird, and is probably full of crap, so we both just looked at each other, shrugged are shoulders, and pretty much just went with it.
