The Journey To HR, Part 92!
Finally she spoke.
“We’ve got something here!”
This got me excited.
She got out of her chair and went over to a bookshelf.
She looked for a moment and then pulled out a rather hefty volume.
“What’s that?” I asked as she struggled to carry the enormous tome over to her desk.
“Company bylaws,” she said, very much out of breath by now.
She dropped the book on her desk and the desk collapsed.
A door opened and men in overalls came in.
They looked at the collapsed desk, murmured amongst themselves and then got to work.
In minutes the desk was back to normal, this time with metal struts giving it that extra support it now needed.
She sat back down and opened the book.
She turned some pages, wrote something down and then continued turning more pages.
Something else was written down.
More pages turned.
More writing.
I sat there silently.
I reached into a pocket and found some Skittles and a pig in a blanket.
I popped them into my mouth and chewed silently as she continued to turn pages and write.
I thought about sighing, but didn’t.
After a bit more time, she got to the last page, wrote something else down and then closed the book.
She sighed.
I sighed.
“Well, according to the bylaws, we only have one option,” she finally said.
“Suspension?” I asked, getting that giddy feeling again. “A long, torturous suspension?”
“Happily, no. We must cut off his hands.”
